Biography

Hossein Kahfi, holds a B.A. in Sculpture from the University of Art, Tehran, and an M.A. in Art Research. Since 2009, he has been professionally active in the fields of visual arts, cinema, and theater. The central focus of his artistic practice is the reinterpretation of the human body through a contemporary and transformative lens. In his works, the boundaries between the human figure, organic forms, natural elements, and abstract structures become intertwined. His sculptures often explore themes such as memory, identity, contemporary existence, transformation, and the relationship between humans and their surrounding environment. Drawing on the possibilities of sculpture, ceramics, and diverse materials, he creates forms that oscillate between familiarity and ambiguity, reality and imagination. Alongside his artistic practice, Kahfi has played an active role in art education and the development of contemporary art. He is the founder and curator of the “AST” Art Residency, a member of the Iranian Sculptors Association, and has served as a designer, secretary, and policy council member for specialized art events, including the Khesht-e Kham (Raw Clay) Sculpture Symposium in Iran. Throughout his career, he has participated in biennials, symposia, and more than thirty national and international group exhibitions. His works have been exhibited in Iran, Italy, Cuba, and Turkey. Among his notable achievements are being selected for the 12th National Ceramic Biennial of Iran, the 7th Iran Sculpture Biennial, the 3rd Mashhad Urban Sculpture Biennial, and the 3rd Iranian Sculptors Expo.
