From The Kaashehaye Gharedagh's Collection (Kaasheh:Thin ice on Water)
I have spent many cold days on Ghare-Dagh Mountains to capture astounding events in nature and have witnessed so many of them during my life.
But During mid-March and mid-April, when nature offers warm days and rather very cold nights, an extraordinary phenomenon occurs.
A stunning layer of thin ice forms on water at sundown and gradually melts after sunrise.
For three years I climbed the mighty GHareh Dagh mointains ( parts of Firouz Kouh Mountains) near springtime to take advantage of the steep temperatures of right after the sun goes down,
when small streams of the melted snow running gently in small valleys quickly freeze or when at sunrise the thickened ice starts to melt and amazingly not from the top but looses layers from below
where the water runs.
The patterns of ice are nature's works of art. I, along with the hands of nature, have created images that may seem abstract at one point, but they are in fact tangible reflections of an everyday phenomenon.
